My Africa Story

I first visited Africa in 2003 and instantly fell in love with the continent and the people. I loved it so much that I quit my job in advertising and created my own sales and marketing company, The Archer Group, to promote eco adventure lodges, camps, and destinations in East Africa.

My clients were the "best of the best" and included many award-winning lodges and camps such as the Bush and Beyond portfolio, Great Plains Conservation, Volcanoes Safaris, and many more. I also became active in several organizations to promote tourism for the continent: I’m a founding member of Adventure Travel & Tourism Association (ATTA) and We Are Africa, the leading travel trade show for African luxury brands; I’ve been a member of the Africa committee with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for over a decade; and I served on the Executive Board of The Association of Promotion of Tourism to Africa (APTA) for the past eight years.

About 15 years ago, I began doing safari planning at the request of friends and family. They knew my own experiences, marketing expertise, passion for the continent, and personal relationships with so many property owners would give them a uniquely customized safari experience.

What began as a few personal favors quickly snowballed into something much larger. So in 2023, I closed my sales and marketing company and began Archer Safaris. Now I focus solely on safari planning. I’ve spent the last 20 years traveling regularly to East Africa and estimate I’ve been on 50+ safaris and at least 500 game drives. These are quite literally life-altering adventures so I’m thrilled to help even more people experience them as well.

My travels have taken me to Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Oceania and South America. But of all the places I’ve visited, Kenya is by far my favorite. I think of myself as ‘Canadian by birth but Kenyan by soul’, so much so that after we were married in Canada, my husband and I also had a traditional, three-day Samburu blessing ceremony at Ol Malo in the Northern Frontier.

Safari njema! (Safe travels!)
